was the last A-frames record. Black Forest, what a beauty. New album this year btw.

You don't agree?

I bet you are going to say Band Of Horses, piss off.

So i have heard yellow stonewashed jeans are in. I'm really loving the new Pissed jeans record. Rollins? Loving "Scrapbooking" and "Caught Licking Leather".

Anybody listening?

Quote:
Following on the heels of their monumental Don’t Need Smoke to Make Myself Disappear 7”, Pissed Jeans drop album number 2 and their Sub Pop debut: Hope for Men (we like to think of it in the “mankind” sense). For those who found a glimmer of the stuff on the aforementioned single (two pressings of which have sold out), the album delivers more, and in abundance. That is to say, if classic, thick-as-glue punk bombast and Aussie sludge stoke the coals of your existence, you have found, not only your new favorite band, but a reason to get up in the morning.

Since 2004 the Jeans have spent many a night playing in their hometown, no-rules hellhole, Allentown’s legendary Jeff the Pigeon (RIP). Their first single, “Throbbing Organ” and album, Shallow (both on Parts Unknown) set many self-styled punk scholars’ hearts a-flutter. Songs like “Ugly Twin” sent jaws floor-ward by including a plaintive piano part in a bruiser of a song. Such touches abound on Hope for Men. The album is diverse, but the Jeans ain’t no dilettantes. Mixing volatility with humor is a damned hard thing to master in music. Pissed Jeans do it with smarts and poignancy. Consider the bar raised.

Ha, The Thermals, dear god no. I forgot about low but they must be just below decent. It's all-rite.

pissed jeans is the type of band that i'd've expected to be on subpop in their pre-indiepop days.

Rain were Sub pop? Damn, they were decent. I knew i should of said pretty decent.

Z, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking Nirvana or Mudhoney? Then yes as decent as that. A-Frames is not indiepop.

i'm talking about the subpop sound and how it's changed since its golden days in the late 80s and early 90s. there was that shift in musical interests at some point in the mid-90s that, while not necessarily bad, is certainly different than what people expected of subpop when there was such a thing as being a fan of labels. know what i mean? of course, i know subpop still holds onto some bands with that sound, but now we think of them championing the postal service and the shins more than bands that made the original singles club great.

Subpop's put out some great records lately, including Band of Horses and The Thermals. Pete, Pete, Pete....

Love As Laughter - Laughter's Fifth was very decent.

Also, Rogue Wave. I know there don't seem to be many fans of that band here, but I love both their albums.

No offense pete but your taste in music = unlistenable to my ears.

Personally I think Sub Pop has a pretty high level of quality control with the bands they put out.
