Exactly, why?

Why would they do this? They don't need him. He's a terrible human being, and they will now be the target of hatred from animal lovers everywhere.

I have never been more disappointed in my team. This has been one shitty mess of a preseason.

not signing Dawkins pisses me off a lot more than this.

what he did was reprehensible, but the motherfucker has been punished FAR more than anyone who isn't famous would ever be for what he did. Guy's a shitty human being, as is most of the NFL. Would you be okay with Ray Lewis being there?

I'm he's gonna be a backup, maybe even Kolb's backup for the first half of the season. Shit, you should be happy the Eagles are progressive enough to give him a second chance.

from a football perspective, it's a great move, backing up McNabb and taking carries off of Westbrook. You Eagles fans always think that your team has a shot and the only time they've been good is when they have a scum of the earth, winning is all that matters to me degenerate on the team. Vick deserves another shot and it's a GREAT situation for him.

I don't know. It's one thing to take a young talent with some past errors and have it blow up on you when they do something stupid. Signing a washed up QB who was never really that good anyway, when you don't need him and its a PR nightmare: It's just stupid.

Anyway, this article haunts me:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/magazine/12/22/vick.dogs/index.html

I understand he did his time, etc. I hope he learned his lesson, moves on, and has a happy life. I just don't want him on my TV any more, and I sure as hell don't want him on my team.

haha. My favorite quote of the month.

I seem to remember a lot of booing of McNabb when he first started. At least he got y'all to the big game. Problem with Philly isn't that they signed Vick, it's that all Philly fans are reprehensible humans. haha

Thankfully Philly baseball has been interesting enough the past few years that I've been able to emotionally disengage from the Eagles. So I'll be able to just sit back and enjoy the fireworks while (hopefully) enjoying a second world series (a pipe-dream most likely, but I can hope...!)

Served his time. Good move by Philly. Talk about a damn effective wildcat formation.

This is some shit. I'm all for giving the guy a 2nd chance, just not on my team. And we thought that TO doing sit ups in his driveway was some drama..oh this season will not be boring that's for sure.

Pretty much.

Now you've got multiple options for a team with a very good QB who has had durability and consistency issues the last few years.
Go two backs with he and Westbrook; put him at slot receiver; wildcat; or just keep him on the bench as a not terribly expensive backup ($1.6M the first year, which is the only guaranteed year).

Hard to argue with the move from a football standpoint. They'll have to gut out the PR storm for the preseason and first actual couple games. But if there are a few W's out of the gate, everyone will go about their business.

I can't believe how up in arms Philly fans are about this: proving once again to be the dumbest, most irrational people on the planet.

Also, two pretty funny comments from PFT:

You could pick five random guys off the street in Philly and they'd all be guiltier for worse stuff than dog fighting.

Chase ain't so happy with this, either.

But, I envision something on the order of the Obama-Biden-Crowley-Gates beer summit between Chutley, MV7, Andy Reid's sons, & & Gov. Rendell, but with weed. They'll work it out over some prime chiba.
