Tough call, but Arcade Fire once again.

This is a close one.
While I find WBC more urgent-sounding, I think that Funeral sounds more original and creative.

I'm gonna have to go with Funeral, just because I find myself listening to it more.

Eventually, FAIL Butler will lose. Let it be now, even if I don't particularly cotton to this early/mid period Stripes.

What exactly does this mean in terms of music praise? I see it everywhere and I know the meaning of the word "urgent" but I don't see how they connect.

"Urgent" has a pretty cool sax solo.

It's more raw... more immediate and spontaneous-sounding. Makes for an exciting listen.

I hope you're referring to De Stijl.

Totally.

Random Foreigner thought:

I keep waiting on any of my friends to have the balls to use "I Want To Know What Love Is" as the first dance song at their wedding.

I'm filing that one away.

Your boy Burger used Bryan Adams' "Heaven" - unironically.

I voted Funeral here. The Stripes just kinda fizzled with me.

White Blood Cells.

If it were up against Neon Bible, I might have thought twice.

Random Foreigner story:

My friend sat next to a member (drummer?) of the band on a flight from Helsinki to St. Petersburg in 2007 (where he was meeting me, coming from the US). He was unfamiliar with them (lived in Hong Kong until college), even when I sang "Cold as Ice" for him. I didn't think of IWTKWLI or "Waiting for a Girl like You" at the time. Apparently, the guy was very hurt that my friend hadn't heard of them!
