Due to my med. conditions, I drink decaf almost exclusively. (I'll have a cup of regular a couple of times a month.)

Folks turn their noses up at it, saying "What's the point?"

Point is, I love coffee. And, despite the lack of "kick", the aroma, the flavor, and the heat are what get me going in the morning, and are what I really enjoy. When not placed side-by-side with a regular coffee, it's generally near-impossible to tell apart from regular by taste alone.

Anyone else drink unleaded?

Oh yeah, and I am still a coffee snob. Just a decaf snob.

Just seemed like a separate subject... that other one is about the best coffee.
This one is specifically about decaf and who drinks it. Talking about if other folks felt the same as I do.
Was thinking that, if it got going, it could get the other thread off-topic.

So... I'm being polite.
Like decaf.

started drinking decaf this week actually. still drink regular coffee during the day, but if i want a coffee after 6pm from now on, it's going to be decaf. just can't seem to get a good nights sleep if i drink the regular stuff at night.

i was VERY surprised at how there really is NO difference, taste wise, between regular coffee and decaf.

if you can't taste the diff between decaf and regular then you weren't drinking enough coffee to begin with!

I like decaf americanos...

My wife is almost hilariously bad at caffeine so I keep some around for her. Just ordered these:

Never saw the point. I like the flavor of coffee, but I like the jolt more.

Point (for me, at least), once it became obvious that I should not be drinking the Hard Stuff, I realized how important the ritual, the flavor, the aroma, the heat, and all that really was to me.

for sure. I can't go without. I'd rather have decaf than nothing. I had to only drink decaf for a few years but now I am back on.

If you pour from the decaf decanter at the convenience store you can easily slip a couple of those espresso caffeine-shot creamer cups in your pocket for use later.

I'm not saying there are people I know who have been advised to cut back on caffeine for health puposes and those people play act at doing so. Not saying that.

I've been on decaf only for five years now. The regular stuff and my extraordinary consumption of it for too many years( a couple pots a day) led to massive anxiety attacks. And one of those made me head to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack.

It wasn't. Needless to say my new Dr said "stop now. cold turkey". So I did. Two months before my wedding. hahaaaa The caffeine was singlehandedly keeping me thin and the lack of it made me gain six lbs before my wedding. Nice.

Anyways, I can't drink the regular stuff at all. If I do I'm a fucking disaster between GERD and anxiety. Most store brand stuff tastes nasty to me and makes me GERD worse. Strangely the only decaf that doesn't make my stomach go haywire is Starbucks. Go figure.

But even now I can't have decaf every day. There have been times coffee shops have screwed up(like restaurants) and given me regular and I have to be peeled off the ceiling later. Not fun.

Offend, no. Surprise, yes. I don't get it, I think. The coffee costs more, the machine's expensive, etc, vs. a french press, which requires nothing but hot water and a grinder, and makes as much or as little as ye wants. (We have Keurigs at work.)

Is this in your current setup, or the "to be"?

Current but admittedly a recent addition.
