Closer to an NY-Ryan Adams without the work ethic. He was okay (if generic) back in the D-Generation days, but his solo career is pretty anemic.

New York singer/songwriter who spent his early years fronting hardcore and punk bands. Followed the natural progression to solo artist with tendency towards more straight forward rock.

Ryan Adams produced his first full lenght which helped get him attention.

I like him. I've only heard "The Fine Art of Self Destruction" and "The Heat" and both are pretty good but I've always found him to be a bit spotty. For every "Queen of The Underworld" there are a couple of duds.

I think I'm gonna play D Generation's 'No Way Out' really loud today.

super annoying singing voice. I've seen him live a couple of times (one opening for Ryan Adams circa Cold Roses). Man it blew.

I REALLY like about half of Fine Art of Self Destruction.

The Heat never really grabbed me.

Southside Johnny to Ryan Adam's Bruce.....or really Eddie Money to Ryan Adams' Southside Johnny.

His songs are unremarkable and don't have half the lyrical force of anything he's typically compared to. He's embarrassingly full of himself live. Basically a huge douche.

Fine Art of Self-Destruction and the Heat are two really solid albums, although the latter takes two or three listens to really click. His last one, Glitter In The Gutter, was to spit-n'-polished sounding for its own good. Overall, he's a good artist who puts on a good live show, although as others have said he's written a bunch of duds. But the good ones make him worthwhile.

So you'd recommend him to anyone?
