For what reasons? Because it sucks, or for simple overplaying? Or for both?
My list:
• Eagles - "Hotel California" (or just about anything by The Eagles, for that matter)
• Pink Floyd - "Run Like Hell"
(and many more that I'll think of later.)

Oh, and "Stairway to Heaven" can be put back on the low-rotation list. It's served its time in purgatory.

Despite the fact that Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs still holds together really well as a complete album, I think that ALL EC-related music should be banned from the radio forever.

ESPECIALLY the acoustic version of "Layla" and "Tears In Heaven".

Really?

I hear this song maybe once or twice a year at 80's Nights.

I could also go without hearing Clapton, The Eagles and to some extent Skynrd and Fleetwood Mac when being forced to listen to Classic Rock radio.

There are a slew of trendy pop songs that rotate through my hate list, but most of them disappear from the planet after about a year.

Yeah, more or less both. But when you get down to it, there's really no reason to play "Nights in White Satin" on the radio anymore. It's godawful, and it's well past time we just took it out of the stacks and replaced it with something else. Hell, double the rotation of "Whiter Shade of Pale".

There's a whole gang of songs that were ridiculous one hit wonders ("Who Let the Dogs Out", "Here Comes the Hotstepper") that are more or less novelty songs—I don't mind if those get played every so often.

There's also songs that are so hilariously awful that we should play them to hopefully prevent those sins from being repeated (Matthew Wilder, what up bro).

There's also the hideously cheesy and/or sentimental crap that no one ever admits to liking as actual music, aside from 40ish women with Tweety Bird tattoos and Doral breath. I'd put "Wonderful Tonight" and most Rod Stewart in this category.

But "Nights in White Satin", your time is up. Anyone that wants to hear you can either buy a Moody Blues best of or tune into the Car Running in the Closed Garage station on Sirius/XM.

Also, as much as I could live without hearing their songs again, I'll even give a pass to records with massive sales like Rumours, Eagles Greatest Hits and Hootie and the Blowfish.

Perhaps the Moody Blues were bigger than I realize. They appear to be crap from musical no man's land. Nobody has a Moody Blues tattoo.

Does anyone else find it odd that I hear more music from when I was in high school (early-to-mid 90s) than current music? I'm all over the dial, I just mash the button until I find something I can either listen to or ignore, but I feel like I hear as much Stone Temple Pilots as I ever did. STP was pretty big, but even the minor hits like EMF pop up more than I would expect.

Maybe I'm not a genius when it comes to radio programming.

There seems to be a major trend in Pop radio to have 90's shows, the big teen pop station here has a 90's at noon show. I've also noticed that the metal station here is unbelievably reliant on 90's alternative music now and even plays tracks by Brit Pop bands.

whenever i hear it, it always makes me think of a couple like this on their anniversary, slow-dancing at Sandals before they head back to their air-conditioned grass hut to make love

Yeah, I mean, you'd have thought - or hoped - that a lot of that stuff would have faded away completely and been forgotten. But it seems to be the most doggedly mediocre, unremarkable, or just flat out annoying pop hits that have just sort of hung around mindlessly, like so much radio programming must just have been set on autopilot for the past 10 years. I mean, no one would actually pick that stuff, would they?

I've been exposed to a lot of FM radio lately because my work trucks only have radio and I can only take so much AM Talk but I can safely say that Stone Temple Pilots are the new Led Zeppelin when it comes to FM radio play. All four Atlanta rock stations play them constantly.

I even notice a preponderance of STP on satellite, on that 90s 'alt-rock/grunge' channel. A near 100% guarantee of hearing something off of Core if you play it long enough.

I will admit a soft spot for "Interstate Love Song" but I famously like shitty FM radio so its not really a surprise.

I can still tolerate STP (I may even still like some of it), but then I guess I never actually listen to regular radio anymore.

So maybe I shouldn't even really be in this thread.

You guys have hit most of mine but here are a few more:

"Fly Away" by Lenny K. not because I hear it too much but because it's the worst song of all-time.

Any John Mellencamp song because I couldn't bee more sick of the man

Any Eagles, Doobie Bros, Journey, Foreigner, or Stix song because those bands are just plain awful.

Any Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Petty or Doors songs (I still like those artists but the radio songs are just so tired)
