Thought I'd start the thread with the impending season starting on Thursday.

Also, like we didn't see it coming, Tyree worked out with the Ravens on Tuesday and has a physical today.

I'm predicting a New Orleans / New England Super Bowl. Not going out on too much of a limb with that prediction...

No shit. Two fan bases that have high expectations for this year and one of them is going to go away with a bad taste in their mouth right out of the gate.

Most of the summer I have been ready to declare the Falcons a lock playoff team because of that offense but after watching bits of a couple pre-season games I'm now not so sure. Our defense has some serious issues to fix.

Not to mention we play everyone in the AFC East along with out of division teams Eagles, Giants, Bears, and Cowboys.

We have the players to go 10-6 but plan B better hope that 9-7 will get us in.

Big problem in the NFL. I know yr kinda far out from the metro area, but the NFL and blackouts is a very real problem that needs to be discussed. If you live in Jacksonville, Houston, or some other place that doesn't experience sell-outs yr games aren't televised. Pretty crazy.

From a business standpoint I can see why the Pats would do this (his contract is coming up) and it's easy to say same old Raiders. But, from an on the field standpoint I'm not so sure the Raiders didn't come out on top here.

I mean, assuming he shows up to camp, he immediately makes the Raiders D better. What if the Raiders improve in the next couple of years to 6-10 or 7-9? Doesn't it de-value the draft pick the Pats get?

Draft picks are never guaranteed producers so I guess the question is what is 3-4 good years from a potential hall of famer worth? Apparently to the Pats it's cap space and the hope of a good 1st round pick.

I guess it also depends on your take that Seymour has benefited from guys on that Pats D-line like Vince Wilfork.(double teams, etc)

Just hoping for a healthy Matt Schaub and a 9 win season for my Texans. Just once, I want to get over that 8-8 mark. (Wishful thinking)

Anyone in a Survival pool this year? Pick one team to win each week (no point spread) and cannot use the same team twice. Last one standing wins the pot.

I've narrowed my choices down to Baltimore over KC, NE over Buffalo, Saints over Lions for this week.

I generally try to pick home teams, non-divisional games, non-primetime games whenever feasible.

If anyone is interested, I'm in a pool you can join. $20 entry fee. We usually have 100-150 participants for a $2000-3000 payout. PM me if you're interested and I can get you the info to sign up. This year we are paying out the top 3 finishers.

I'm doing a u-pick-em through work.

WK 1 go with Baltimore over Chiefs, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Ravens fan.

That's where I'm leaning.

Both teams play good defense, can run the ball and have serviceable QB's. I'm not buying the Texans, Titans, Cowboys or Giants. So why not?

An article about the SD Chargers rookie tradition of paying for dinner for everyone on the team.

Yet another reason why Ryan Leaf was an uber-douche when he was in the NFL:

The other famous Chargers rookie dinner came back in 1998, when a young man named Ryan Leaf was expected to take everyone out to dinner. Leaf was, um, reluctant, we'll say ... so Junior Seau(notes) stole his credit card and made it happen anyway. Leaf had a fit, and his bill was only $3,000. I hope everyone enjoyed their Extra Value Meals that night.
