One of the most popular indie rock rumor topics of this decade is the reformation of Pavement.

According to reliable sources, it's finally happening in 2010! There will be multiple, possibly four, nights of shows at NYC's Central Park Summerstage in September of that year. That could be part of a tour. That could be the end of a tour, the middle of a tour, or even the beginning of a tour, but it seems reasonable to speculate that they might make their official comeback at Coachella in April.

It's also time to start guessing who might be the big curator of September 2010's ATP NY festival (the job Flaming Lips had this year, and My Bloody Valentine the year before that). Might as well put Pavement high on the list of possibilities for that too.

I dunno, I'll believe it when I see it. Can't say I really care that much either way though. I really hope they don't record a new album.

does this mean the reissues didn't sell enough, or sold better than they thought they would?

Wonder if SY will not be touring next year, since Ibold has been taking over the bass role on the current tour.

Would love to see this happen, but like many of you I'll believe it when I see it. All have said on numerous occasions that it could happen, but whether it happens is another thing completely. Poor Bob Nastanovich, I feel like he's hurting for money or something. Didn't he just do a trip to Ikea with a fan via Matador for a contest? :nono:

I can't see myself rushing to catch their live show again anytime soon.

I thought he was dead, but apparently he's still kicking. Doubt he would be in on the reunion considering how little he has to do with the Pavement people know, and also the fact that he left/forced out on such bad terms.

Naw, he's not dead, altho the way he behaved at the show I saw a looooong time ago, I thought he'd have died from liver failure by now.

His death would be fairly big news around here, he's from my town, Stockton.

In honor of this announcement, during a 3 hour mountain bike today I put their 5 proper albums (plus watery, domestic) on random. So fucking good. These guys rule.

tickets went on sale A YEAR IN ADVANCE for 2 shows in nyc.

the 1st show sold out in 1/2 hour, i'm pretty much sure the 2nd show sold out by now.

and i got my ticket. :D but find it ridiculous that tickets for a show went on sale a year in advance.

more common than you think. Performing Arts Centers do this annually with season tickets.

I find it funny that people are drooling over a band who had a reputation for being really inconsistent live.

I'm with Stu. I'm a big fan, but having seen them several times, I've never been impressed with any of their sets.

Although having US Maple open for them did make them seem a lot better...
