Where the Wild Things Are

NYC fans, join innovative director Spike Jonze and his filmmaking team as they discuss their new film, "Where the Wild Things Are," at the Apple Store in Soho on 10/12 at 6pm.

Please go High 5 Spike, and thank him for making the best film of the year, and finally doing the book justice (opinion based on the many clips i've seen).

I can't wait to see this film.

has there been great injustice done to the book? I mean, other than not having a movie made out of it?

I just have to call you on some of the movies in your netfilx queue here:Center Stage, Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist, Brideshead Revisited...

I'm just playing, there are some good titles in there also, you've been slacking on your movie viewing though it seems.

Well, yeah. Watching movies takes something I don't have much of: uninterrupted time.

And Nick and Nora and Center Stage are wife picks.... We have Frost/Nixon and Doubt at the house....we've had them here for close to two months :)

Loog, you don't know what your talking about here. Not only are Spike's regular films great, he also makes groundbreaking skateboard films. The soundtrack is awesome and their hasn't been a family film of this caliber for several years if not decades. If your kid was any older you'd be all over this, and probably will be when it comes out on DVD.
Wanting to see this film is no worse than wanting to see any Harry Potter nonsense or one of the Tim Burton films about a children's book.

Of his feature films, I thought Malkovich was an unfunny piece of celluloid shit, and Adaptation was close to the same -- both had the same writer - someone who relies on "meta" to mask a lack of talent or imagination.

Some of his videos were great, I'll admit it, but this movie's existence, what with Jonze, plus Eggers, plus overwrought indie soundtrack makes me want to kill the whole lot of you.

And Burton is terrible, and Potter is as relevant to a discussion about books or movies as Dan Brown.

I have a kid - he can be entertained by children's fare.

I used to watch a TON of movies. I re-joined Netflix in a attempt to re-start that trend...hasn't quite taken!

Aren't we all in agreement that the only reason Dalen's blowing loads over this movie is because Arcade Fire are the band in the trailer?

For what it's worth, I love this book (even met Sendak as a kid, still have an autographed copy somewhere), and am hesitant at best with the creative team producing this film (i.e. am on the same page as Dave with Jonze, gave up on Eggers' long-term stuff halfway through his second novel).

I'm not sure if it'll suck, don't really care. But adding Karen O to the mix isn't helping anything for me.

So there were versions made? Or are we talking movie speculation fans?

Dalen heard that Polanski was going to produce one with Serge Gainsbourg and Papa John Phillips doing the score, and has pretty much been jackin' it ever since.

It doesn't take very long. Just go to your nearest bookstore for all ages. They probably have racks in waiting. Be sure to use an actor's sensibility while reading it to yourself out loud.
