This is the man right here....

[img][181:500]http://www.bravotv.com/media/images/persons/kevin-gillespie.png[/img]

He won last night, and is an ATL native. Dude is calm and cool, and can cook it seems too.

Douchebag alert goes to...

Caught some of it last night.

There are actually 3 chefs from Atlanta who own their own restaurants or are the head chefs there.

For the ATL people the restaurants are:

ENO Restaurant and Wine Bar
Pure Vida
Woodfire Grill

I missed it, but will be sure to catch the 19888 times it is rerun between now and Saturday :)

I've been to Woodfire Grill once and Pure Vida a few times. All of them get raves.

Should be interesting though. They all have different styles.

ENO - Euro-Mediterranean (Eli)
Pure Vida - tapas stuff influenced by South American cuisine (Hector)
Woodfire Grill - high end farm-to-table American (Kevin)

Never been to ENO but from what I've heard it's mostly popular for it's Wine Bar. It's a neighborhood type of place but the neighborhood is Midtown ATL and right on Peachtree St.

Pure Vida has been around for a while and that chef has been cooking there since day one. I think he owns it too. Went there with Bloor and FemBloor once as well. It's alway packed on the weekend and especially in the warmer months.

Woodfire Grill - This place has been around for about 6 years and the head chef who came up with the concept (it was one of the first to do the farm-to-table type menu) just left about a year ago to start a new place in California. Kevin Gillispie has been his sous chef for almost the whole time and is now head chef. Apparently he was a James Beard award semi-finalist. I haven't been since he took over though. It's in a weird part of town sandwiched between some shitty Mexican joints and cheap strip clubs but the critics love it.

I LOOOOVE Pura Vida, I've had a few good meals there...I see that guy around town, I think he's a friend of a friend...

Woodfire Grill is pretty choice too...

Two of the ATL chefs are James Beard Noms...the dude that won last night looks like an early favorite to take the whole thing...in the meantime I'm gonna root for the locals

Yeah, if you don't care about flavor, and just care about how much you can cram in your maw!

If FemDerris is gonna watch a food show while I'm in the room, I'd MUCH rather it be Man v Food vs watching Guy Fieri.

His schtick is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

Derris is so money.

Fieri is probably the one person I'd most like to punch in the face above all others.

I much prefer Fieri to Richman. Richman does go to places that seem pretty cool though.

I think I just hate his dated lingo.

I checked the Food Networks website for Triple D but they took down what used to be up there.

They honesty used to have up there a guide for people to understand what he was saying.

Like:

"That is so money" - Guy's way of saying he really likes it and thinks it's great!

"Off the hook" - This tells us that he is really pleased with the food!

I actually love the concept of that show and I've actually pulled a couple of places off the list on the site and eaten at them in different parts of the country. I just hate his schtick and his spiky hair, his backwards sunglasses, and his stupid arm band.. Just grates on me.

Oh I agree his schtick is stupid, but I'd much rather see where he goes than watch Man vs. Food guy try to drink a 6 lb. milkshake followed by a fake press conference.

I just keep waiting on dude to have a massive coronary on camera.

I think it'll be the "Nobody can eat 20 pounds of Bacon" episode.

You can, but you need to dip it in mayonnaise to make it go down easier.
