You deride Eternal Sunshine yet Almost Famous is on your list? I really like both movies but I think they could both be easily criticized.

My specific criticism with Eternal Sunshine is that it is a movie/story that has been done 100 times before, just gussied up with some pseudo intellectual-meta-BS, and Kirsten Dunst in her underwear. My hatred for the movie is definitely outsized for how bad it actually is, it is just the twee/indie ethos taken to illogical new heights.

EDIT: I added Ray to LIKED.

I understand your hatred for the twee/indie pathos. Nothing drives me more crazy. I just don't see it with Eternal Sunshine. To each his own though. I like all the movies on your list.

I hope this was with sarcastic intent. If not, re-commit yourself to reading comprehension and/or memory testing.

I haven't sat through There Will Be Blood or Assassination of Jesse James by The Coward Robert Ford yet.

I liked what I saw of Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, but I didn't finish it.

There are some others I have in my Netflix queue such as Gomorrah that I think I will end up liking.

But for the most part, these are the ones that stuck with me.

If I had to pick a #1, it would be Goodbye Lenin.

It wasn't sarcastic, more of a memory issue.

Might be my least favorite movie of the decade...an epic piece of dog shit.

Goodbye Lenin would be in my Top 5 for sure.

Good list dude, and I'd say 60% would be in mine.

Public Enemies was an ugly, unstructured steam engine to snoozeville, and Wedding Crashers was a remarkably shitty romantic comedy tacked onto the end of a mildly entertaining 20-minute comedy. Otherwise I have no beef with this list.

The story of Assassination of Jesse James... was okay. But holy hot fuck it was one of the best shot movies of the decade. No question. It was so beautifully done.

They both fucked up by bringing the romantic piece to the forefront, but Public Enemies is beautifully shot, and the costume/period design, etc was good enough that it ended up making my list.

Shot in my backyard, it was.

I have some overlap on this list, I'm sure, but of the one's you've "loved", the majority I haven't seen.

Also, I don't understand the twee-meta thing either re: Eternal Sunshine. I guess it's the crazy broad with purple hair. I'm a sucker for films about episodic memory. I'm less a romantic and more of nazi though.

IMO, the reason Public Enemies looks so god-awful is because it was shot on digital. It seemed anachronistic to me.

Is your problem with digital in general or the choice to use digital for that particular movie?
