Pronounced DIE-plo?

has anyone heard Diplo pronounced this way? I just got into a little argument with one of the girlfriend's co-workers about this. He seems to be convinced of this being the correct pronunciation, and I the only reason i haven't slapped him is because he's been to a couple of his shows and knows a lot more about club music than i do because he's gayer than a french horn. I'm pretty sure RJD2 referred to him as DIPP-lo, but then what the fuck do i know? Prove me right, kids. Man it's pretty sad how little i actually speak with people about music.

everyone at her office is dipshittier than the last. but on the hollertronix mix they pronounce diplodicus ith a dip and not a DIEplodicus. its shortened from that, so i say that her boy's a dinkus.

seconded, for myself. i often second-guess how i pronounce a band or person's name because i just don't actually talk about them much. i can imagine seeming pretty silly when i fumble over names. i need more friends that i can actually talk to about music.

I threw a beer at guy once who told me that Husker Du was pronounced
Hersker Der if I acknowledged the umlauts above the U's. It was after much harassment that I had my outburst- then I had no more beer so, I still lost the argument.

I had a guy at our local record store correct me when i asked for the Notwist album Neon Golden.

Me: Do you have the new "No-twist" album.

Him: Yeah, the new "Not-wist" album just came in.

I still don't know who's right but i sure feel better about my way.
