He was a pal of mine. I am in shock. This is so upsetting. Such a wonderful person.
He made everyone smile, he was so funny and kind.
I am trying to remember him as the guy who did awesome swan dives off these rocks when we were away once.

actually even this thread is a bit much for me.

I just read about this, and its really unsettling. Really tragic. From strictly a music fan POV, its a bummer that he was involved with so many great acts that will really miss his input and artistry.

Sorry to those who knew him.

here is a much nicer write up of him:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/09/nyreg ... .html?_r=1

I know people like to joke around on here but I will just say Jerry was a personal friend and this is really fucking with my head. It's very tragic and sad and he was a wonderful person. I couldn't sleep last night and keep going over the whole thing in my head. I can't even click on that NY Post thing. Just please be respectful.[/i]

UGA alumnus, early-to-mid 90s vintage? XIX, I doubt you're the only Obner who knew him.

But now we need to know, was he a MONSTER? That mustache says yes, playing with MSTRKRFT says prolly not.

That video may not be the best example, but yes, he definitely was. Saw him perform with Turing Machine several years ago, and he pretty much made the show. Dude was great.

A lot of people may not know this, but he played on a lot of that last LCD Soundsystem album.

I do not really like any of the bands he was in. However, this is terrible. I actually got stuck in similar elevator situation where I had to jump to the floor. I never thought about not making it.

not to be defensive, but it's not just some random dude I knew. He was in my ex boyfriends band. I traveled with him. I stayed in apartments with him. I worked across the street from him.
He played for LCD, he played for Masterati and !!! and Juan, he played live shows for Moby, he was so great, so funny.

I keep going over it again and again in my head. Other bandmates had to get him out of the elevator shaft. I can't fucking imagine.

Busty / Bloor:

If you ever fall down an elevator shaft, I am not coming in there to get you. It's nothing personal.

True that.

Terrible story, condolences to those who knew the man and his family.
