First set of inlaws: Christmas music followed by football

Second set: My FiL is actually a big music fan but his taste is pretty Fail: Jack Johnson and deep cut Jerry Rafferty albums (the bad) mixed with Mark Knopfler, Emmylou and some decent acoustic folky types (the good)

Being at home yesterday I quickly pulled a bunch of Jazz/Jazz Rock albums into a playlist and set it on random (Paul Simon/Joni/BS&T/Keith Jarrett/Bozz/Doobies/Dead Can Dance/Metheny/Wally Badarou/Guaraldi/The Dan). I use a ROKU streamer piped around several rooms in the living space. Set the volume on low and remotely cranked it up or down depending on the tune. I liked it, and thought it fit well for the group of 10 we had hanging in the kitchen and sitting in the dining room. Did not get one, single comment from family or guests however. That's both good and bad, considering past experiences. It seems the more time I spend on things like this the more shit I get for being too out there...

At my Mom's retirement home, they had a supreme buffet laid out. I couldn't stay away from the huge bowl of jumbo shrimp!

No music, tho, only Muzak.

I am thankful that I got to spent Thanksgiving at home with teh freshwife, freshstep-kid, and freshfriends before heading off to Afghanistan for my second (and hopefully last) tour in the middle east. I'll be heading over sometime in Mid-December and expect to be back in October next year. I should have decent internet while I'm over there so I'll keep y'all update (your Ob-porter in the field) from Kandahar.
