Yeah, those are good. However, personally I'm a fan of these:

I consider myself an expert on Old Bay and the taste of Maryland Crabs, and the Utz just do it better. The Herr's are a little over-seasoned.

How available are crab chips in other areas? Old Bay?

i haven't had the Herr's, but i have to grab a bag or two of the Utz any time i'm back east. can't get 'em out here at all, and i'm not sure i've seen 'em anywheres outside of MD/VA either. got two tins of Old Bay in the pantry as well -- my secret french fry seasoning.

not to derail the thread, but i had these for the first time this past thanksgiving in virginia:

nowhere near as good as the Utz, but not bad. had never seen 'em before.

Don't think the Herr's are supposed to taste like crab, just Old Bay flavored.

Not tater chips, but these are tasting pretty good, too:

Those aren't bad. I generally don't get stuff like that or goldfish, because I'll sit down and eat the entire bag/box.

In high school I was in a class where every weekend we'd go canoeing on the Chesapeake Bay. The teacher was a big guy and would say that if you wanted a good canoe, then you'd have to bring him 2 bags of the Herr's crab chips. I think I bought a case of them that semester, just so I could get a canoe that was in good condition.

Crab=Old Bay in Mar-rah-lend.

Pretty synonymous with flavors. I don't think I've had a Md crab without at least a thick sludge of Old Bay coating on it. If it doesn't then you toss it back in the middle.

I prefer the Utz to the Herr's, too.

Now I'm going right for the Cape Cod kettle chips as soon as I walk in the door. Thanks.

I had some Herr's 'Cheddar and Horse Radish' this past weekend.
I love the combination, but it did not work in a potato chip form....bummer.

Kettle chips are tough to beat. Spicy Thai and Salt & Pepper are my favorites.

But those are for rich people or single people with no dependents.

I got mildly addicted to these when I was living in Singapore. They're like cheetos but taste sweet and a bit less cheesy.

I haven't had THAT particular brand, but one or 2 others I tried tasted like malted milk balls, except with the saving graces of chocolate and malted milk flavors being replaced with that of well-used Sperry Topsiders and 4 day old chum buckets.

I dunno. That's the only brand I've had. There could very well be a big difference.

And I'm not saying they're great or anything, but this thread made me think of them.
