...is one of the most frustrating things of being a music fan. I tried this morning for pre-sale Wilco tickets in DC and Philly. No dice on either. Anyone else get shut out regularly? It seems with Wilco its always a struggle in the DC/Baltimore metro areas to get tickets.

i rarely get in on presales anymore simply because it's frustrating and the presale blocks are so inconsistent. for a seated gig, presales are never the best seats; it's always a center section in, like, the balcony. and for what? so people have tickets before anyone else and can toss them on craigslist. great. only for huge gigs, like a leonard cohen or a kylie or even a wilco, do i go through that anymore.

bummer about the shutout. i'm sure you'll have more luck on the regular sale.

It sucks..

but if you are willing to pay (stubhub.com), or wait for a deal (craigslist), you can get into anything you want...

i don't get too frustrated anymore...of course, i don't go to many shows anymore either...

E-I'm sure they will come yr way when it warms up.

I already checked ebay for curiosity sake, and 2 tickets for the rear of the Strathmore were going for $300. Not gonna pay that. I paid $200 for Sigur Ros there before Takk came out and they were 5 rows from the stage. I just wish that Wilco would adopt a fanclub system. Presales are worthless when you advertise them to the entire universe. Pearl Jam does it right...$20 and you get first crack at tickets, merch, pre-order on concert posters, and you get a quarterly mag + a holiday 7". I'd pay $20 for certain bands to get preferred tickets.

I don't have much difficulty, but every show I have been to in the past few years that required advanced tickets usually involved etix or ordering them directly from the venue.

Man, you got absolutely raped on those tickets. I think I paid $50-60 for a pair to the show two years ago in Omaha. We had front row seats for that one.

i still have a hard time comprehending sigur ros, and now wilco, playing a show not 10 minutes from where i grew up.

FR, doesn't wilcoworld have a pre-sale?

promo, i think it's different in most big cities than here and even more so in nebraska. i rarely have to worry about a show selling out right away.

Meh, whatever floats yr boat. The venue was an incredible, state-of-the-art symphony hall just built when they played.

Yeah, but you have to go through frontgate ticketing, which is like any other system. True, you have to register but anyone can do so as they buy the tickets.

man, my worst experience with this shit was when sigur ros came to red rocks a few years ago. pre-pre-sale through their website netted me row 16 seats. not bad, i thought. regular ticketmaster pre-sale came up a month later and people were getting rows 5-10. i got on as quick as i could and grabbed row 11. ended up not even getting face for the row 16 seats.

Bummer. People on Via Chicago were complaining about how fast tickets went.

I got shut out this morning trying to buy tix for the Atl show at the Fox. FrontGate Tickets kept erroneously logging me off for "security reasons". I tried several times to purchase two tickets that their pull-down menu showed were available and it kicked me off each time I pressed "submit". I e-mailed FrontGate about it and all they did was say "well, there were high demand for those tickets". Yeah, but you showed they were available!! :wanker:

I am debating which show to go to...could go to Orpheum here in Boston (2800 capacity), Capitol Center for the Arts in NH (1400 capacity), or Lupos in Providence (1800 capacity)

Both non-Boston venues would be 45 mins driving each way, but I am tempted...prob can get much better seats

Stu--that's what it did to me for the Philly show. The Strathmore show was completely done, but Philly it kept showing tickets and then logging me out.
