So, my bro and sis and I are flying out there to show my mom a fun weekend before she has knee replacement.

There is some thought to going to Albuquerque, NM or maybe go the other direction and go to Marfa.

Anyone have any experience.

And no, I won't be heading to Juarez....

Albuquerque's pretty far, and Las Cruces is a bit of a hole.

However, south and a bit west of Las Cruces is Mesilla, and it's well worth the jaunt. Old west saloon, jail where Billy The Kid bought it, hotel, town square, etc.

Carlsbad Caverns aren't too difficult to navigate, even with bum knees...paved walkway through-out.

I haven't been to Marfa, but i have plenty of friends who live to go and take breaks out there a few times a year.

Also big on their lists are Alpine, and Terlingua.

Seriously, why would anyone go to El Paso?

Unless you're a narco-traficante, "fun weekend" doesn't describe El Paso. You must really hate your mom.

She is having the surgery in El Paso because her sister lives there, and has offered to help her out with the recovery process.
