Never have been to New Orleans despite always wanting to go. Yet, never have had the slightest desire to be there anywhere near Mardi Gras.

It's not like your TV. That's for sure.

I'll be there from roughly Thursday through the 17th. My better half (and all of her family) are natives, including quite a few Yats. I don't know if I will survive, but I expect a lot of Second Line and watching Buckjumping and trying not to black out and lose my hosts / life. Hope to see lots of brass, especially Rebirth. May find myself in a tuxedo at a Ball, that's still on the fence.

My friends' place is right on the parade routes. Plus I made friends with some Nawlins' lifers that showed me around town last year. They have offered their services again. Bringing a suit in case of impromptu ball. Hopefully get to drum in one of the parades again.

Planning on a week of pure hedonism.
