Never heard of that movie.

The book was, as usual, way more detailed and much much cooler. Hanks wasn't really the best choice to play him.

It was one of those movies (like the Depp F&L movie) where my enjoyment of it was almost entirely based on what was going on in my head as an expansion of what was going on on the screen.

Still, RIP to a guy who stomped on the terra.

The mujahideen that fought the soviets, and that we gave money and weapons too, were not a direct link to the Taliban or Al Qaeda. Certainly some factions of the mujahideen were co-opted, but they were more of a local tribal thing. The Taliban was more of a Pakistani thing and Al Qaeda was more of a Saudi Arabi thing. The Northern Alliance that fought against the Taliban is more akin to the mujahideen and local Afghan tribes.

I opened this thinking it was the lead singer of the Gap Band.
For some reason,I thought this Charlie had died years ago.

That comment just let the terrarist win.

The movie was pretty meh, but the real guy was an interesting story/life and I said when I saw the movie I would read the book. Still haven't.
