Worst people.

One of the more mystifying things in our popular culture right now. I downloaded Mafia Wars for my phone and I don't get it. And I'm a video game nerd.

They are totally pointless. It's all just a bunch of clicking, but I keep doing it anyway. I also get mad when someone attacks me. I think it's almost time to unload it.

TJ nails it for me - The people who I don't get are the people who complain about not caring about the other people's social gaming but who aren't smart enough to realize that there is a "Hide" button to hide activity from that application.

And furthermore, if I have to listen to some of my religious extended family babble on endlessly about needing prayers to save them from the debt that they got themselves into, then I think that they can stand a couple of social game themed spam from me ~

oh, i have a good majority of them hidden, but new ones like fucking Zooville keep popping up.

i think i played mafia wars for a bit when i first got on fb but the game is fucking pointless so i quit.

mafia wars is addictive, the others...meh.

i play mafia wars because my mother insisted i be in her mafia.

i have a farm i've abandoned.

i have a cafe, which i keep up, for some reason.

i don't post anything about them to my wall, though, and if it's ever happened it was an accident. that annoys the crap out of me.

i wish most people did this.

well, the weirdest thing would be if you found out he was IN the Mafia.

i didn't get too annoyed with it until it happened so much that it blocked out actual stuff i cared about. i don't understand why people think others care about that crap.

Now Words with Friends and Chess with Friends are a different matter. Those games are awesome, but I never see people who have them linked to facebook.

I did this too because it bothered me that it was showing up on my profile. I only felt the need to share real status updates and photos, not that I robbed two mobsters 1000 times yesterday.

I get the impression that the programs are defaulted to report something about themselves every so often (once a day?) as an advertising mechanism, and that most housewifey types playing these games are unaware that they are "sending" these updates out.

I was deep deep DEEP into mafia wars for a good 6-7 months...probably 75% of my onoine time was dedicated to it....then one day, i decided i had enough, deleted the application, and have not regretted it since....

I don't get how people can spend that much time on it. Once your energy is gone, you have to wait hours for it to refill. I probably spend 10 minutes a day on it...which is 10 minutes too much.
