What is more entertaining to me is the public pants shitting by all my hard core Republican friends.

Most Dems seem to be nominally for it, but man are the Chicken Littles out on the other side.

Seriously. I was just reading on HuffPo some reports from the protests. People are freaking out over something that most likely will only have a minute, if any, effect on their lives.

But no, it's come to "KILL THE BILL BARNEY FRANK YOU FAGGOT!!!"

Stay classy.

Historic. A flawed piece of legislation, but with enough true systemic changes to make this a great moment.

Dems will lose 30 seats in Nov, but hold on to the majority. The Republicans have been off their game in the last 48 hours... I keep thinking of the slacker phrase "I got nothing."

Seeing the Dems actually get this done.... comforting.
Seeing Rove be crazy-guy-out-of-control on This Week... priceless.

Facebook is teeming with overwrought right wingers proclaiming it's the end of the world as we know it.

I don't think I've ever seen lemmings from either end of the spectrum react this vehemently to any piece of legislation in my lifetime.

I'm pretty happy after wasting away my summer months doing advocacy work on this. I have a few former high school classmates who are pissed, but the vast majority of everyone else I know are happy we at least got a token bill passed.
It's nice to know that kids will have the chance to stay on their parent's plan through college and that those with preexisting conditions won't get fucked over as much by the system.

Yeah, I'm going to guess that my PT appointment tomorrow is not substantively different than the one last Friday. Except for I will probably have to work out with those Bolshevik kettle bells or something.

Ah, I fucked up again and commented on a right wing Facebook friend's post regarding the IRS involvement in health care reform. Now, I'm going to take flak for days. I should have learned the last time, or politely blocked their posts from appearing on my feed. They were just clueless about three very specific sections in the bill that was passed tonight and believe that the IRS is managing part of the system.

Has anyone found a good summary of what this bill does and does not provide?

Interesting analysis by conservative David Frum of the conservative gambles that were, in the end, counterproductive:

Nice read.
Some of the fired up Republican comments are pretty entertaining too.

It appears that hell is starting to freeze over. Will this have an impact on global warming?

Like Harry said, just enough change to take care of the people who should be covered and just NOT enough to have very minimal effect on anyone's lives who already have insurance. I'm hoping that all of the "sky if falling" hysteria will be for naught and those right-wing teabagging idiots will finally just shut the fuck up.

Did anyone else watch Real Time with Bill Maher and see the protester with Hodgkins being shouted at "HERE'S YOUR HANDOUT!!" and having money thrown at him like a stripper? Despicable human beings with no compassion out there.

Most people I see posting on Facebook are convinced that this will cover abortions and increase the deficit 500 billion. I need to look for a website with a summary that can put these ramifications into perspective.

According to the BBC...

"Victory was assured only hours before voting started, when the president agreed to a deal with conservative Democrats to reiterate in an executive order that money provided by the bill could not be used for abortions."

I read the news in the morning which apparently makes me more informed than 'most people' on Facebook.

That's just the language from the bill itself, which completely ignores the obvious ulterior motives of the communist nazi socialist babykiller cabal presently in power.
