i don't recycle.
while it may make you "feel good" i think 80 percent of it is non-effective.
and green...yeah, sure:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/05/arts/05iht-design5.html?ref=design

"The cruel truth is that most forms of the color green, the most powerful symbol of sustainable design, aren’t ecologically responsible, and can be damaging to the environment... The cruel truth is that most forms of the color green, the most powerful symbol of sustainable design, aren’t ecologically responsible, and can be damaging to the environment."

and for the record, i could do without greenpeace, peta and the concept of "healthy" eating.

I don't hate you. Don't hate you. Hate you. You.

But, seriously, if I dyed my hair, it would probably turn green.

like anything there are pro's and con's. some recycling can really reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing or securing new raw materials. some types are fairly ineffective. but, they give me the big blue bin and i don't have to sort anything, so its no skin off my back. i'd guess our recycling to garbage ratio is about 2 to 1.

I'll have to admit that recycling has never once made me feel good, or even any less bad. (But I'm in the same boat w/ rodney RE: big blue bin, no real effort on my part)

Does anyone really enjoy healthy eating?

ditto, but it's more like 4 to 1, which is more a commentary on my beer consumption than of any do-goodery. I have to empty that motherfucker twice a week...

... and that's just the glass

... and it's not a little blue bin, it's a galvanized trash can

maybe I should slow down.

I think this is a majority view. Even when I was vegan, I couldn't stand how both these organizations went about "educating" people. PETA has some good concepts, but executes them in a way that ends up alienating 99% of the people you're trying to reach.

It isn't so much "enjoying eating healthy" as much as it is "enjoying having a lower rate of heart attacks, strokes, and high blood pressure."

Depending on your definition of "healthy," yes.

I guess I was thinking about fairly restrictive dieting, not a liberal application of "healthy" that includes "all things in moderation".

Certainly doesn't sound like fun, as described. But like, laying off processed food, eating fresh at home, and going with sane portions is "healthy," even if it includes bacon.

What is your current rate of having heart attacks and strokes?

eating healthy can taste fairly incredible. I wish it was easier and more affordable to come by.
