I'm not so sure this is worthy of the 5 stars it gets on AMG, but it is a good synth-pop record. And while it does sound dated, it doesn't sound nearly as dated as many similarly styled albums of the time, and the tunes themselves hold up well.

I have no idea why, but I had never heard this until now. I have only listened once, but I can see it has potential to be a favorite of mine. Much of it really sounds like a more mature Big Star.

Agreed. Although it took a few listens for its greatness to really take hold of me. And at that point, it did do, a song at a time.

This is a recent buy and a first listen for me. I'm liking it a lot.

It recently occurred to me that after a year of tracking down Levon Helm solo albums and buying a bunch of early 70's bands that ape the Band that there were a bunch of albums by the Band that I didn't own and had never heard.

I still haven't heard Cahoots, Islands, Jericho or Jubiliation either.

I have Cahoots, and think it's decent, but nowhere near as good as the first couple albums.

Those later Robertson-less Band reunion albums (Jericho and High on the Hog) are better than they have any right to be. I've never cared for the original band's albums after Moondog Matinee.

And I pimped that Mae Moore album in chatzy for years. Glad Rod finally "found" it on Pandora.
