Bradford Cox, Lockett Pundt, Moses Archuleta, Josh Fauver

That's a pretty good collection of Prep-school names.

I was waiting for that response. 3 out of 4 ain't bad because real prep-schoolers need a token non-prep school friend to make them dangerous. You should know that.

But we did have 3 Archuletas at my private school

I think FU Dave knows (and has probably blown) Bradford. And he's *gasp* Druish.

As you probably know from having kids, and having friends with kids, so many people give their kids names that they think are unique or a station above their current environment that it is semi-hard to tell if these are prep-school names, or just douche parent names.

And, being that Bradford is from ATL, aside from Moses, the others probably just have their mom's maiden name as their first name, as every sorority girl learned to during rush or before.

I was always under the notion that mother's maiden name was the foundation of a good prep school name. A means to keep mommy's family influence at the forefront.

While I am sure that was the original intent, the co-mingling of the classes, the proliferation of new money, and social climbing has rendered that a bit out dated. It was also intended to show that you were the product of 2 members of individually prominent families.

Now it's just something people do because they heard it was what you do. Like naming your kid Dylan or Connor, or anything ending in -ayden. You now Jayden, Paiden, Aiden, Caden and Laiden?

Hopefully, Bradford Cox was named 25 years ago and not today. I didn't have any Lockett's or Bradford's in my class. A ton of Matts and Davids.

Laiden cracked me up.

Well yeah, but I think these things evolve over a generation or so. I'm not saying they're NOT prep school kids, I'm just saying that it gets harder to judge given the keeping up with the Joneses nature of our society.

This reminds me of Freakonomics where today's affluent daughter-of-educated-parents name is tomorrow's Cum Dumpster Sally

Wikipedia says they went to Harrison High School in Kennesaw.

If they were prep school kids, I'd probably like their music more.

I can't speak for Josh or Moses, I don't know them that well. Lockett and Bradford (when we hung out years ago, he was just Brad) are just middle-middle class suburb, public-school kids. I think Lockett is from Alabama (I met his mom when I was out there recently)

I figured they probably were. But when you see the names in sequence, it reeks of ascots.

Definitely NOT prep-schoolers. I'd hate to be from Kennesaw.

Also worth noting that they have choices in how they use their given names, ie what they go by. Chosing "Bradford" instead of "Brad" is one of those choices.
