Dallas are from the top down an arrogant, self-aggrandising, stubborn franchise.

The stubborn refusal to ever properly rebuild when they're so far from legitimate contention it's not funny.

The constant bickering about dirty play and referees conspiring against them.

The consistent egg-laying in crunch time.

Consistently bringing in players with no winning experience.

Consistently being over-stacked three or four-fold in some parts of the roster, while perpetually carrying glaring omissions elsewhere.

Never having a defensive stopper. At any position.

Mark Cuban yelling from the rooftops about the revolution of "advanced statistics" in sport, and then bringing in players like Drew Gooden and Erick Dampier: players whose ineptitude is truly revealed by such data.

What is most remarkable is that they have had as many fifty win seasons as they have. Enjoy it, 'cause under Cuban it will never get any better.

They get everything they deserve.

i dont know about all that. they clearly need a defensive stopper who can play 3 and can cover 2 and 4 in a pinch, which i think they hoped marion could help with but he is clearly awful except for in spurts. dampier played way too much this series but haywood did absolutely nothing defensively.

they do have a point about getting jobbed in this series by the refs and by danny crawford historically, but when you let guys get to the rim with reckless abandon, i suppose more fouls will be called. i think its all backlash from the game in 2005 or 6 where they beat the spurs and shot like 53 free thrown in one game, theyve been like 1-15 in games officiated by crawford since then and over .500 in all other games

There is no referee conspiracy. Different referees just ref the games in their own way, and when this coincides with a style of play that doesn't get calls from that specific ref, people cry foul. It's bullshit. Refereeing is sometimes flat out awful, but to suggest there is some sinister motive or grudge from an official against an entire franchise is juvenile.

Every game is called different. Good teams adjust.

Dallas is weak as piss.

I'm pretty sure Dirk averages around 7 FTA a game (off the top of my head), which is pretty good for a guy whose repertoire consists mainly of fadeaways, leaners, and runners. Don't see what everyone is complaining about.

The roster really needs an entire overhaul. When you've been that "close" for nearly a decade, it's time to move in a new direction. The only guy with a ticker on the whole roster is Jason Terry, and he's an inefficient spurt scorer whose best days are well behind him.

Not so sure about Dirk. He's had to carry significantly subpar rosters (who are somehow perpetually overrated by the media) year after year on his back. Kinda feel sorry for him. He's just never had the cattle.

you are crazy if you think danny crawford doesnt have something against cuban/mavs, however. they are 1-16 in playoff games officiated by him and he allegedly has bragged about this

*The notable Mavs win under Crawford’s watch was in the 2006 Phoenix series, a Dallas blowout victory. Also in 2006, in the NBA Finals, guess who worked Game 3 against the Heat, when Dwyane Wade was allowed to shoot as many FTs (18) as the entire Mavs team made, all leading to Dallas’ two-point loss? That would be Danny Crawford.

And in Game 6, when the Mavs lost by three points? And Wade shot 21 free throws, two fewer than the number shot by the entire Mavs team?

Danny Crawford strikes again. … and again. … and again.

Even if it were true that Crawford has some sort of grudge, you just gotta play through that shit. Dallas lets things that really get to them and affect the way the play.

And Mark Cuban's constant bickering about the whole NBA system being against him doesn't help.

And as for that Heat series, sure Wade got a lot of superstar calls, but the dude was relentless in attacking the basket, and the Heat were a vastly superior team anyway.

you are crazy to say they were vastly superior. mavs owned the first 2.75 games and then wade started attacking - admittedly the mavs didnt adjust enough but come on if you watched any of those games, you KNEW wade was getting fouled every time he got past the top of the key - that stuff just doesnt happen in the playoffs

its foolish to argue that miamis supporting cast was vastly superior to dallas when you look at everyone behind nowitzki/howard and o'neal/wade - lots of role players (haslem, posey, payton vs. terry, harris, stackhouse, etc) - wasnt exactly the 85 celtics
