I'm not sure if it's the absence-makes-the-heart-grow-fonder of not listening to any NP in a while or the newfound respect I gained for them after seeing them live in support of their last album, but I'm really liking this a lot.

It seems like AC is giving a lot of his songs over to Kathryn Calder (or maybe it's Neko, I have a hard time distinguishing sometimes), otherwise everything else is in it's effortless, majestic NP-y place.

I'm finding it to be a lot more enjoyable than Challengers was so far, but I'll need a few more listens before I can gauge its overall positioning amidst their catalog.

Gonna check this out tomorrow, but they've been sending out diminishing returns for me. Although I totally get what you're saying about getting the songs better after seeing them live.

I'm at the point where I find this band annoying. The songs are all over-busy with melody, yet there's zero hooks. Sounds like Newman is missing his true calling of writing stage musicals or ad jingles.

after one listen, i'm enjoying it so far. seems to me like its laden in neko, more so than any previous record. i've always had a hard time getting into any one of their albums entirely, and i don't expect this one'll be any different, but that there's more neko vocal in a winning point for me. hers were the only songs on challengers i loved.

Nailed it. The first 2 discs were pretty good, but the last 2 were only ok.

but the burning question...how are the bejar tracks???
