so this band i dig called Everyone Everywhere (riyl that indie/punk/pop/emo stuff like late 90s Promise Ring and Piebald) did a blog tour. somehow they organized a "tour" where each day 10 different blogs would post the 10 songs from their album for each day for 10 days leading up to the album's release date.

it's kinda cool because

1) you can get the whole album for free if you desire.

and

2) you can check out some blogs you might not have seen before.

seems like a cool win-win kind of networking. start at the link and follow the tour if you want. i guess if you followed it as it was happening it would be a tad smoother, but now that some "dates" have passed you might have to do some scrolling after hitting some links.

Speaking of Piebald, didn't one of the band-members have some issue with child-porn or -enticement? Seem to remember a Pitchfork Media newswire story about that, from back in (early) '03.

But, yeah, Piebald means two-tone. I'm pretty sure the band started out ska around the time No Doubt was breaking ('94?) & moved on to emo as the tide in punk changed. Kind of like Animal Chin (ska) begetting the Stereo (emo), with the Impossibles as the connector.

I don't hear Piebald or the Promise Ring in this band. More like Dag Nasty or some anthemic fat wreck-chords bands.

Piebald were garbage...nothing more than a 4th tier weezer cover band (see also: Ultimate Fakebook)

How many tiers are there, btw? Does it vary by genre (i.e. 7 for techno, 12 for weezer cover bands)?

i'm aware that piebald is a longstanding emo rock band. i didn't know there were sexual allegations leveled at any of the members

piebald's earlier records were good but then they kinda got more commercial as they went along and i lost interest.

to be honest i've actually never heard more than a fraction of Piebald, I'm just repeating what some other riyl said. and the promise ring ref is definitely there in the vocals.
