I know there was some brief discussion of this album in the Twentyten thread a while back but I'm totally fucking hooked on this thing. Perfect mix of Thin Lizzy dual guitar grooves, nouveau-Southern rock (right down the occasionally terrible lyrics), and even some borderline 90's alt rock.

I love it.

I have so much new shit to listen to, I have only given this a once over. I like it, but with almost all the new albums, nothing has overtaken my listening completely. I blame XM Backspin and Hip Hop Nation.

Whatever thread we were talking about it, I mentioned that they had put up one of their previous records for free. You should check that out as well.

Liked them a bunch when I saw 'em at SXSW. Thanks Bloor!

Bought this a few weeks ago and I'm really into it. But it's a 2009 album, right? Not that it matters.

I downloaded Joey Kneiser's solo album for free...is that what you are referring to?

This is a great album, but still only their second best, as How We Handle Our Midnights remains their finest.

FT my good man. I am drunk and I agree, however, the potential of Feral Fire is just that, hot baby, get outta the way.

Alright, well I've only had a couple listens but its purdy damn good.

Love this band.

How We Handle's "Lonesome Stray" is an outstanding song... and so is Feral Fire's "Through The Screen Door," but for my money, The Better Angels' "Blood On The Knobs" is the tits. :rockbanana:

by the way... I recently picked up Better Angels on glorious 180 gram vinyl and it sounds amazing.

Modern Day Thin Lizzy. It's good, but not transcendent.

Agreed, none of theirs is transcendent, but decent effort not sounding too much like the rest of them, if you know what I mean.

This sounds much better when you're drunk but I'm not sure if that's a proper endorsement or not. The thing is, can you offer something that makes you want to hear these guys alone or just cue up actual Lizzy. Right now, as this plays I just want to hear Fighting. But still, it just reminds me of how much I fucking love Thin Lizzy.

It's really just the first and third songs that have the heavy Lizzy vibe...it was enough to make me dig deeper into the album though and I'm glad I did.

"No Guarantee", "The Natural State" and the aforementioned "Through The Screen Door" are my current favs.

I can't get enough of "Your Heart To Haunt" these days. But the three Bloor mentions in the post above are also superb. This album may end up Top 5 when it's all said and done at the end of 2010.
