so i just sold my ipod classic, and some tickets and now i have a pool of cash (a little over 300).

i like having all my music available at work (~85 gb), but none of the new tech (ipod touch/ipad) gets up to that high a storage capacity.

do i get the ipod touch or the ipad since the biggest ones are 64 each? i think the ipad is 700 and the ipod touch is like 350. i am annoyed by a lot of the ipad limitations but it's def growing on me. also, i believe the ipod touch will be refreshed in sept, and possibly double in capacity to 128 gb. i guess i could wait...it would be $400.

or should i consider anything else like a tiny netbook?

any advice?

/nerd.

What was the storage capacity of your Ipod Classic? Mine is 160 GB which would seem to be what you'd want. If your Ipod Classic met your needs and the touch and Ipad don't, why did you sell it?

<-------- Confused and don't have any other advice for you.

I think an iPad is a little excessive if you're mainly looking for a music device. The iPod Touch is really nice, but then as you said you're limited to just 64 GB. Do you really need to put everything on there?

I found that after the initial hard-on of being to have EVERYTHING at my finger tips, I actually like my 4G nano and the iPhone. I can put on them what I want to hear, and if I am missing something - tough shit.

But, get an iPad - that thing is bad ass.

b/c it's old tech, and i hate the click wheel scrolling. figured i'd dump before it lost any more value. the only thing preventing me from the touch or ipad is the storage capacity being 64 tops.

the 3g option only seems like a good idea if you are willing to carry it around in your purse.

Does the 3G ipad have a phone in it that you can access via bluetooth or would I have to use Google Voice?

Which I believe is Google voice, but we'll all wait on your big reveal.

Yeah it does support VOIP and does have a microphone...also, you aren't required to sign a contract for the AT&T service, it's a month-to-month deal.

I bet if the demand is there, Apple adds a native phone thing to the next version.

And, as with all things APPL it is new and shiny, but wait 6 months and they'll trot one out that works out the kinks.

I'll buy one during the "its-the-end-of-the-year-and-I-need-to-buy-some-shit-or-give-the-money-to-Barry" spending spree.

while we are on the topic of tech nerdiness, i recently discovered doubletwist for loading music onto anything but apple devices. i used doubletwist to load my 2009-2010 playlist onto the 16gb microsd card in my phone. i'm listening to tunes on my nexus one right now, and it sounds f'n good! the android player is pretty weak, but it looks like goog is finally taking music management seriously with their announcement of an itunes competitor at google IO.
