I watched the national on the stream yesterday. Pretty good for a daylight festival set and Matt was drinking white wine out of a plastic wine glass.

The guy playing the mando is Chris Thile. He is a badass on that instrument. He was of Nickel Creek once upon a time and now has embarked on a solo career. His last record "How to Grow a Woman from the Ground" was one of my favorites of 2006. Stripped and recorded in his living room with some friends. A few of those friends have formed The Punch Brothers with him. They've got a new record out.

Also, NPR is streaming...
I agree,Thile is a hoss on the mandolin.
They have a session on Daytrotter, the highlight is Wilco's "Poor Places".
Oh, and there's a video somewhere with him and Bela Fleck covering "Morning Bell" from Radiohead.
Good stuff.

Looks like somebody just dragged them down off Sand Mountain and threw neckties on 'em. And they ain't a bit happy about it. Angry mandolin is the best.
