bands that sounds like Bands of Horses and the like. I can't take another band with a sound that is described with the word "atmosphere" or "majestic."

Majestic? I'm glad I've missed that adjective in reviews.

Oh look, you said the same thing as Chase. There are tons of bands still coming out like this in a slightly re-imagined formula. This is the other music you listen to when you're not spluging it to latest chillwave band.

Chillwave is the latest edition of Dalen's original "only music from the UK is good" mantra of the early 00's.

Yeah, I'd be curious to know who you're referring to besides Band of Horses. I'm not a fan of them any longer, but am a fan of music described as "atmospheric".

Wait, shouldn't it actually be 'Bands that sound like old My Morning Jacket?'

Haha, they [Giant Cloud] suck on this video. Song could actually be good on record though? But yeah, I get what you're saying now. Gotdamn long-hairs!!

DJ - if My Morning Jacket still sounded like they did on At Dawn and It Still Moves, sure.

It should but I'm in denial about that.

That's why I said "old" MMJ. Although I was driving through the mountains last month and 'Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Pt 2' came on a mix and it was downright majestic and atmospheric with the scenery.

I think that Local Natives and Morning Benders are somewhere in this neighborhood, and I somewhat agree.

I can think of a lot of adjectives to describe that shit, but "atmospheric" and "majestic" aren't any of them.

That band fails because its obvious what they're trying to be, and doing a horrible job of.

I'm not sure what that was supposed to mean, but if you mean that both of the mentioned bands are great, then i agree.

I just can't stand anything that's "soaring".

ie. Muse, Band of Horses, emo music, etc.

It's just such a cheap trick to build intensity in a song.

That's funny because I always considered that as a classical music crescendo of sorts when applied to pop music and I do like it as long as it can stay around the 5 minute mark . And, damn I hate long songs these days. As a fan of some shoegaze I do hate that there is a need for the artist to build every damn song to a noisy blurry cacophony end. I agree with you it is used as a cheap trick, but some bands are just dependent on that build and for me sometimes it works great. My favorite this year being Albatross from Besnard Lakes, but curiously I do not like the rest of the album.

Another one to add to the list:

http://mountainman.bandcamp.com/

Lots o' reverb, although I think they took a page out of Chan Marshall's early Cat Power discog too.
