Mrs. PopTodd and I just heard a song of theirs over at YouTube:

We liked it and are thinking of going to see them at EmptyBottle while Pitchfork is going on.
Any other fans here? We are DLing Dale's "Hello Fuzzy Summer" mix, which has their tune "Far Away" on it.
So, Dale...?
Anyone else?

Thanks!

don't care for them. mostly because i think they did a poor job covering the beach boys.

Just got my hands on a Tour-Only CD-R that they were selling.
PM, for more details, etc.

I'd like to know the tracklist, just out of curiosity.

I'm guessing it'd be made up of the singles they've put out so far, but maybe not.

Sun Was High (So Was I)
    That's The Way Boys Are
    So Gone
    In My Room
    Over The Ocean
    Make You Mine
    The Feeling Of Love
    Dreaming My Life Away
    Something In The Way
    Wish He Was You
    The Road
    When I'm With You
    This Is Real
    Up All Night

Just listened and it's pretty much all kinds of awesome. Like My Bloody Valentine doing girl group songs with Kim Deal on vocals.
:nugene:
It makes me happy and summery.

Just pre ordered.
And the first single is available for free download at Pitchfork.
Just about to give it a listen.

Saw her last night at the Bottle.
Verdict:
An excellent show.
She has an endearing, charming stage presence and the songs hold up extremely well in a live setting. The wife was just as into it as I was. A really wonderful show and a great time.
The one thing is that it would be great if either of the other folks in the band sang some backing vocals, but it's a small complaint. I would go again (and again). Can't wait for the record. (Yes, I know that it leaked, but I ordered the CD and ... aside from the one single that I got from Pitchfork ... I waiting to hear that.)

EDIT: Of course there's already video of last night's show on YouTube...

Nice to know Todd still has some standards when it comes to looks. I guess now we know how Mrs. PopTodd ended up with him?

I do like that song a lot, but I think "Boyfriend" and "When I'm With You" are just about as good.

So, gimme some more bands that are in the same vein as Best Coast.......ya know, the shoe-gazy girl group type stuff...

I already pimped out the Blanche Hudson Weekend to no interest here, but who else might I like?

Vivian Girls.

Finally got in my first listen to this album, and I'm a tad disappointed. Well, maybe disappointed is the wrong word since all her previous singles gave me a really good idea of what to expect, but it certainly isn't any better than the stuff compiled on her tour CD-R.
