We haven’t heard much from David Bowie in recent years. Since his last record, 2003’s Reality, the iconic Brit has given us a handful of compilations and reissues, and this September, he’ll offer his latest in the form of a new, special-edition version of his 1976 album Station to Station.

The album, which is set to include a number of juicy bonuses, will come in three versions. The first is a three-CD set, with the original album accompanied by Bowie’s oft-bootlegged show Live Nassau Coliseum '76, which spans across the latter two discs. The second is a five-CD collection that will include the above, plus an un-tracklisted five-song CD of singles versions of some of the album tracks, and a 5.1 Surround Sound DVD of the original album. A final version of the album will be issued on deluxe vinyl, and will include, like the five-CD version, an essay on the album by Cameron Crowe, postcards featuring never-before-seen photos of Bowie constructing the album, a replica backstage pass, a replica biography and lots more fan-club-related activity.

All three versions are set to drop September 20 in the UK via EMI. No North American release date for the reissue has been announced.

Station to Station:

Disc One:

1. “Station to Station”
2. “Golden Years”
3. “Word on a Wing”
4. “TVC 15”
5. “Stay”
6. “Wild Is the Wind”

Disc Two (Live Nassau Coliseum '76):

1. “Station to Station”
2. “Suffragette City”
3. “Fame”
4. “Word on a Wing”
5. “Stay”
6. “Waiting for the Man”
7. “Queen Bitch”

Disc Three (Live Nassau Coliseum '76):

1. “Life on Mars?”
2. “Five Years”
3. “Panic in Detroit”
4. “Changes”
5. “TVC 15”
6. “Diamond Dogs”
7. “Rebel Rebel”
8. “The Jean Genie”

DVD (5.1 surround sound):

1. “Station to Station”
2. “Golden Years”
3. “Word on a Wing”
4. “TVC 15”
5. “Stay”
6. “Wild Is the Wind”

How good is any live Bowie stuff?

I mean I'm not seeing the big appeal to this one, despite the fact that it's one of my favorite Bowie albums.

I have "David Live" and "Stage", and both are pretty good. I like David Live better, though. Mostly because of the Diamond Dogs and Aladdin Sane material. He had some amazing backing bands during those eras. If you go back and read reviews, you'll see that most people didn't like how he rearranged certain compositions for the live shows. The live show that comes with this package is smack in the middle of these shows, so I'm pretty sure its probably quality. That said, I probably reach for the regular albums more than the live shows.

I'm past my big Bowie era--but I pulled out The Man Who Fell To Earth a few weeks ago and watched that, and it kinda rekindled my love. I doubt I'll go for the big package, but I'll probably be interested to hear the new remaster of StS. Is it even remastered? It was just remastered wasn't it? Maybe just the 5.1.

two of those Nassau live tracks are on the ryko reissue - smokin' versions of Word on a Wing and Stay, respectively

David Live is great, Stage is hit or miss

Station to Station is my 2nd fave Bowie album - this package is going to be great.
