Has anyone heard the slow down of that little guy's tune, You Smile? This guy slows it down 8 times and it sounds better for it. Its got waves washing over, stretched out notes, and a sort of eeriness to it. I have yet to hear what the song is supposed to sound like. Here's a link.

Its worth a 20 second take.

Toots, you'd know better than I, but it seems he's got a pretty smooth voice if it can be stretched out like that and still come over flawlessly, or do they use effects on his voice track to smooth it out?

Judging by the clip it sounds effects laden.

from what i've read, dude used an open source audio editor called PaulStretch

http://hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/

the "spectral smoothing" is probably what enabled the gapless vocals

The ambient version also reminds me of the vibe Peter Jackson was going for with the scenes featuring the dead girl in "The Lovely Bones" and he just flat out missed.
