Yankees-Red Sox exhibition game yesterday. Giambi at bat and crowd is chanting "Steroids! Steroids!" Giambi then smacks a homer.

Gotta tip a glass to the Yank for that.

I agree. At least he's been fairly up front about it (unlike someone else we know). I wish nothing but the best for the guy.

That was a beautiful moment. Wish I was there to see it.

ugh. i don't like him. he left the Athletics because he said "I want to play on a winning, competitive team." The A's were hot/getting hot when he left and after he left they won the division like 4 out of 5 times. what a load of shit. what a money grabbing 'roid popper. fuck 'im.

and fuck the red sox too. and the angels.

what, the guy wanted more money and beane ball doesn't pay well. i'd've taken the money, too (though i wish he'd've signed for a different team). if you hate giambi, then you have to hate half of the A's from the past 4 years who've moved onto better paying gigs...

and honestly, i was seriously all "good for him" last night. i've never bought into the immediately hating a player because he's a yankee bullshit that comes with being a sox fan and if he's able to return to form, without the aid of steroids, and be a solid player, that's awesome. in short, cut the "ster-oids" taunt...it's so utterly classless.

yeah but when Tejada left he was up front about his reasons for leaving. he's a MVP caliber superstar and the A's can't afford him so he moved on. Giambi gave a bullshit line about playing for a competitive team.

Not looking to argue because it's not something I care enough about. Also, I would not be a fan shouting ster-oids at the guy.

However, I don't think it's something to cheer him about or that he's some kind of "feel good" story.

The guy was using sterioids to gain an unfair edge over every other guy in the major leagues. That's called cheating.

I don't remember the circumstances surrounding his getting off the stuff but I don't think it was because he had a change of heart.

He's been classy since the fact, but so what?

He's come clean and he's off the stuff. Terrific. Wish him the best and that's it. He doesn't deserve the derision of fans or the applause.

Steve

point is, i'd much rather celebrate a guy coming off of any troubles in his life, rather than booing him for something that i can't prove he did with the evidence on hand.
