PopMatters gave Golden Ocean[/i] a really good review. Has anyone heard this? It seems like a lot of the early 2005 releases have been softer, folkier stuff, and I haven't really been in the mood for that. This looks like it may hit the spot. Opinions?

50 Ft Wave is Kristin Hersh's new band. Even though they explicitly say this is NOT Throwing Muses, nevertheless

RIYL - Throwing Muses, Babes In Toyalnd, inevitably aging Women In Rock that are rocking harder than ever

Wow. After that review I really need to check out this CD (loved last year's EP).

"The equivalent of Zen Arcade"?? Talk about lofty praise...

Picked this Up Today, listened to 1/2 due to time constraints. I have a feeling the www.popmatters.com review was pretty on. I can tell that this is a heavyweight release right off the bat though, cannot wait to give it the attention it deserves.

Yeah, it's not mellow. It's Kristin in STFU mode.

I love STFU Kristin. I'll have to get this.
