You Weren't There A History Of Chicago Punk 1977-1984 looks back on the impact that the Punk movement had on the Windy City. Though overlooked in the annals of Rock history when compared to media-centric Los Angeles, New York, and London, Chicago served as an important early supporter of this burgeoning and controversial scene. Featuring: Naked Raygun, the Effigies, Strike Under, Big Black, Articles Of Faith, Silver Abuse, Mentally Ill, Subverts, Negative Element, Tutu & the Pirates, DA, Rights of the Accused, Savage Beliefs, End Result, and more...

I've heard good things about this one. Anyone here see it?

viewed this on pitchfork a few months back and it was fine but nothing spectacular. the stories how punk slowly infiltrated US cities varies very little on the whole. being a product of the midwest i was more intrigued w/ the rise/fall of seminal midwest punk-y outfits: naked raygun, silver abuse & tutu + the pirates. informative & some interesting bits on la mere vipere, but not required viewing. you, on the other hand, would appreciate this much more than the rest of us.

Never was local up there so never hung out at the regulars kinda bars. Would occasionally make it up for shows at Stages/Metro or Exit.
