What is the deal! Please tell me the upside as opposed to eBay. Also explain how it works. I may sell my CD collection through this outlet.

Can't help you with Amazon but I advise you to not do this.

Somewhere, someday you WILL want your cd's. Weren't you just talking about getting a record player? Yes. So it's safe to say that if you want to play records then someday you will want to play cds.

Ebay you may be surprised by how much stuff goes for; Amazon you know in advance. Amazon is free up-front, so if it doesn't sell it costs you nothing. Amazon's charges are a little higher and they screw the buyer on shipping, which makes your stuff look more expensive than it is. Amazon chases payment for you, ebay you do it yourself and probably give paypal a cut. Ebay you know when the auction ends and can keep it handy for your post-office going schedule (your collection could go in a few tranches); Amazon they will trickle through, so a bit of packing and posting goes on all the time.

I sell constantly on Amazon unfortunately I've never sold a thing on Ebay so I really have no frame of reference.

You search on Amazon for the stuff you want to sell. When you find an item you click on "Sell Yours Here" and you will be required to list a condition of the item, include any comments you might have and figure out a price based on what other people are charging.

You will have to register so that you can get online payments that are deposited directly into your bank account automatically every two weeks or you can request a deposit at your own choosing.

The moment you sell something Amazon takes 0.99 and a percentage. However, Amazon will cover your shipping costs to mail your stuff to a buyer.

Once an item sells you get an e-mail from Amazon giving you the buyers address and you are required to ship within two business days.

If you are selling a bunch of stuff at once you can become a Pro Merchant Subscriber but you'll have to do your own research on the pros and cons of that.

If nobody purchases your item within 60 days the listing will close.

I will give you one piece of advice when selling CD's. If the CD you are selling is from a music club mention it in your description of the CD. Some buyers go ape-shit if you sell them a music club CD without describing it that way. :?:

I prefer half.com over amazon.com for selling at a fixed rate.

I've sold a few things on Amazon, and much prefer it to ebay. I don't think you should sell your CDs, though.
