I was surprised that there was never a specific thread for their S/T album.

I had a friend tell me he heard "Radio Song" on XM and ask me if I had heard of them.

I dug out the album for him, which he was surprised I had, and then I gave it a run through. Damn, I remember liking Frankie's Gun, and thinking the rest was a bit meh. And while there are still some slow songs that I skip if I'm driving around, this this is awesome.

Whiskey in My Whiskey and Share the Bread and Tip Your Way are all great pieces of the Americana genre.

I've probably listened to this 10 times since Monday.

seems like we did talk about this band quite a bit, but maybe not. i enjoy both their albums. they wear their influences on their sleeves, but I like those influences, so whatever.

We talked about the album quite a bit, just never in a solo thread, so there wasn't an obvious one to bump.

Re: Influences - there are some songs where I have to remember I'm not actually listening to a Dylan album that one dude's voice sounds so much like him.

The S/T sounds really nice on vinyl. A very fine album, and gets a lot of play around here. The live vids I've seen look like they raise hell on stage.

I get all the Brother bands confused in terms of sound, including the Avett dudes.

I enjoyed them live this summer, though the recorded stuff hasn't done anything for me.

But yea--really good live.
(I think the cocaine helps)
