Wait? So can we talk about how this is a recurring disappointment track by track?

wow. is there really an argument worth 200 pages?

this album is no good.
...this is with the understanding that you could possibly defend its shitty recording style to mask the
complete horseshit content.
oh well.

one good album is better than none.

I agree. It is the best of the 3, but it will never get that oomph like a debut does. And, for me I can only get into those 3 or 4 songs like they have on every album.

The sound
The melodies
The sprawl and expansion of the record and sound coinciding with the lyrical themes of suburban sprawl and expansion
The MBV guitar on Empty Room

this is what i think whenever i see that grateful dead thread pop up.

and i know it's not 200 pages but considering the number of people at hipinion compared to here, it might as well be.

I really like this one after a few listens. Don't think it'll dethrone Neon Bible, but like it better than the first album for sure. It'll be interesting to see how this one ages.

You could try the Twentyten thread or, like, pretty much anywhere else on the innernets.

I was all set to hate this album, but I'm really digging it after 2-3 listens. Their albums never have much staying power with me, though. I loved funeral but probably haven't listened to it since 2006. And haven't listened to Neon Bible since whenever year that came out.

So far this is the best of the three for me. It has more guts, sounds harder, less "baroque" and precocious. Less jaded but more experienced.

But as was said, Arcade Fire is the chinese food of contemporary rock. It leaves you hungry and doesn't stick to your ribs.
