Friend who usually shares most of my musical tastes looking for an excursion into newer pop music for a change of pace. She's interested in Janelle Monae, maybe the new Eli Reed. I was thinking about the new Macy Gray. Any other selections of just some mindless mainstream stuff with big pop appeal to include? I'm kinda out of the loop in this regard.

It's for a chick who is highly sensitive to themes of misogyny and isn't much of a rap fan. Not saying that would be a problem with this album...asking really.

she sounds kinda boring.

if she likes sex, she'll probably enjoy that album. but it's romantic and cuddly in parts too.

Not saying super easily offended and actually a girl who is a lot of fun and who I've seen drink many a man under the table when the whiskey gets pulled out, just sorry but too many rap albums feature a strong current of got my bitches and all that bullshit and I know that wouldn't go over well and not really a rap fan in general so it would have to be a seriously good rap album to make any headway.

That Fitz and the Tantrums would probably work well. Thanks.

La Roux - "Bulletproof"

Pretty mindless pop hit. 80's synthpop type stuff.

It was all over radio and VH1 earlier this year.

edited the post for you. Asa is hitting me like a (much) more mellow V.V. Brown. Good stuff.

i'd have recommended that la roux/major lazer lazerproof mix too but it gets a bit misogynistic at times.

Thanks guys, this should be enough. This isn't her general listening stuff, was just asking if I could toss 2-3 albums her way for a change of pace. Much appreciated.

the dream isn't rap and seems to appeal to the most unpredictable collection of tastes. i'm not one of the converted, but don't judge your friend by the cover,
