I am looking to buy a tripod for the gf for Xmas, and I was wondering of any of you obnotographers could recommend one online that isn’t a complete piece of crap and doesn’t cost over $150. Is this unrealistic?

I have no quams with buying used for a decent pro one. I just have no idea what to look for. Or, if I should be adjusting my concept of price.

Any recommendations?

J

P.S. The camera that the tripod would be supporting is one of those Canon EOS Digital SLRs.

I would bump up the budget a bit. Everyone I know who buys a cheap tripod replaces it eventually. The Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod and 486RC2 head is a good combo for about $200-$250.
