The Slackers: The Great Rocksteady Swindle

This is a group I've really slept on. Last year I picked up their Afternoon in Dub album and really enjoyed it and still play it frequently. Now, I've just listened to their latest and I'm really digging it. They mold a lot of traditional ska and rocksteady sounds quite well. Just started listening to this one but so far so good. Anyone know more about these guys, I'd appreciate suggestions of what albums to check out.

Sounds very cool. Wish that I had not spent the entirety of my iTunes gift card already.

I really like Wasted Days from 2001:

Pretty much like you described: old wave ska as if the Twin Tone --> Mighty Mighty Bosstones continuum never happened. Plus they do an amazing cover of Bon Jovi's "Wanted: Dead or Alive" that totally makes any summer mix.

Oh, and one of their (many) splinter bands is Dave Hillyard & the Rocksteady 7, who meld rocksteady with jazz in a really cool way.

I'm listening to Lennon - Plastic Ono Band, cheesy I know. But the coverage has put me in the mood.
