They're already selling 2012 model cars, right? So it's about time we get started on a thread for 2011 that at least as successfully as TWENTYTEN copies and pastes from Magiska links to newer-than-new music.

I'll start with one that I've been waiting literally no time at all for; that apparently straddles the line between threads and years.

first listen, and loving it. a bit 'poppy', and digging the synths a lot. opener 'Chinatown' was particularly excellent.

really enjoying it so far! very smooth. in some ways reminds me of a less bizarre "your blues", which is my favourite of his.

I doubt this will be any good, but FWIW Patterson Hood says it's a return to the sound of Brighter Than Creation's Dark.

Wow, pre-orders for the album just popped up. Surprised to see this leaked so fast.

UK foursome Fujiya & Miyagi formed in 2000 as the result of a shared interest in krautrock and early-seventies electronica music, which has since heavily influenced the unique Fujiya & Miyagi style. The guys have been busy working on their fourth studio album Ventriloquizzing set for release in January 2011.

Enjoying this quite a bit.

The Dø – Slippery Slope - 2011

Image

http://bit.ly/gsXgxT

The Dø are Dan Levy & Olivia Merilahti, a French/Finnish duo known for having one of the oddest and most beautiful debut albums ever, A Mouthful. With a variety of songs that range from muscular tribal to the most fragile moments, the couple became everybody’s secret favorite band. For the last two years, they’ve tried to make ‘At Last!’ and ‘On My Shoulders’ the hits they deserved to be, but now they are finally ready to move on.

Next Monday (December 13), they will be releasing a new EP. Although we lack information, we know it’s going to be called Dust It Off and will feature a song with the same name plus the new single ‘Slippery Slope’. We have no Idea if there is going to be any more songs. And we only know this because both songs have been released already!

‘Dust It Off’ is a simply song that relies only on Olivia and a piano. It doesn’t take much to be convinced that this combination is more than enough. This charming little song can be download for free from the band’s website in exchange for your e-mail.

But the song that impressed me the most was ‘Slippery Slope’. Flirting with all types of cultural percussion, the song seems to be designed to justify why the band has three drummers at their gigs. Olivia is an event apart, showing all her weird personas in a hypnotic and bizarre melody. ‘Slippery Slope’ got a video that looks like a fashion editorial centered around Olivia and it’s pretty cool.

Details have been revealed for James Blake’s first artist album, due out at the beginning of February.

Thanks to a slew of well-rated 12-inches on Hessle Audio, Atlas and the Belgian imprint R&S, 2010 was a breakthrough year for Blake. Especially on CMYK and Klavierwerke, he presented a moody, alternative take on bass music that proved to have considerable crossover appeal, earning the “Best New Music” title on Pitchfork as well as glowing reviews on Resident Advisor, FACT and Little White Earbuds. The 22-year-old artist, who cites his first FWD>> party at Plastic People as a primary inspiration, is now at the vanguard of what is often described as post-dubstep, along with artists like Mount Kimbie.

Blake’s upcoming self-titled album will feature all new tracks, except for “Limit to Your Love,” which was released in November as a one-sided 12-inch of the same name.

Tracklist
01. Unluck
02. The Wilhelm Scream
03. I Never Learnt to Share
04. Lindesfarne I
05. Lindesfarne II
06. Limit to Your Love
07. Give Me My Month
08. To Care (Like You)
09. Why Don’t You Call Me
10. I Mind
11. Measurements
