You spineless bunch of hacks. If only you fuckers would comport yourself with this level of decency more often, this country might find itself in a better place. Oh wait, I guess it's easy to take a stand on an issue like this when there's no corporate interest involved on either side. So fuck y'all anyway.

And John McCain, welcome to the [i]wrong side of history[i], brother. There's a lot of company out there so you won't be lonely, and maybe someone can help you comb your awful haircut.

John McCain was on the right side of history before he decided he wanted to be an enormous asshole with no principals. I was hoping he'd go back to the old dude after he licked his wounds, but no dice.

This is an issue I just don't get why anyone cares.

But, I'll post this - it's a fail book response of a friend of mine who's currently serving in Afghanistan, to a post by his dad, who is a retired Chaplain now serving at The Citadel.
Dad, the senate approving to repeal DADT is a good move. It shows that our military leaders and our Congress finally care more about the manner and quality of our Soldiers’ service, rather than their personal affiliation. There are now, have long been and always will be gays and lesbians serving proudly in our Military. I have known several, and none of them EVER gave me any reason to believe that they had joined the Army to watch my sorry ass take a shower. In my opinion, the fact now that they can do so openly will probably do little to encourage homosexuals who are currently serving to drop what they are doing, and come out of the closet, for fear of personal retribution from narrow minded, bigot-assed service members, who were raised under the postulation that “God hates faggots.” So while you may feel that this is “one small step for “equality,” one giant leap into irrelevance,” or that it is a moral issue, the bottom line is this: there are now, always have been and always will be gay service members who, regardless of their sexual orientation or preferences, serve well and serve proudly. Grumpy old retirees and evangelists received an ultimatum this weekend: Get with the times and program, or move to the mountains.

I'll posit he's barely ever been on the right side of history even if he has occasionally been good at masquerading to the contrary. He's a no good number 10 suckee suckee of the American Dream and I hope an anvil falls on him yesterday.

And Loog, I'm pretty floored that people care as much as they do but man, reading the comments in several major newspapers is a bit of a wake up.

I think for most people it's a non-issue and should've never been put into place in the first place but floored? Come on man. You know better than anyone this kind of stuff is chum in the water for the vocal minority and has been for years.

Plus, we live in Jesusland where the reaction by the far right down here will predictably be:

1) The military has now been compromised
2) A perceived victory by the damn liberals who are ruining America
3) BIBLE SAYS ADAM AND EVE NOT ADAM AND STEVE!!

I'm actually mildly surprised it got overturned.

Still, history should show this as a pretty big milestone for gay rights.
