So I got this new tv, but it only has 1 three cable RCA input on it, but it has a couple of the 5 cable RCA inputs and a couple of HDMI inputs.
My tivo, my dvd player, and my Wii all are the 3 cable RCA outputs.

Is there a way to hook 2 of my components up to the HDMI or other RCA inputs?

Will a cable like this work? or do I need some badass converter like this?

I'd buy a couple of amazon HDMI cables (for as many hdmi ports as you've got) and then either buy a 5 cable rca cord or simply use the 3 rca cord port. use hdmi it at all possible. don't buy expensive hdmi cables. the amazon brand are great an under $9 for 6-9 feet.

My components don't have hdmi outputs. How do I switch from an RCA 3 cable output on the component to an hdmi input on the tv? Do they make those?

My bad. I don't think they make those.

I didn't realize that wii's didn't have hdmi outputs.

I'd avoid the converter on e-bay because it won't improve the quality of the signal, it would just allow you to use the hdmi port. If that's all you want to do then that's fine.

I think you best bet is to upgrade the cables if you want closer to 1080 signal.

As far as that converter goes you'd probably be better off buying new components with HMDI outputs. It seems like a chunk of change for that. (i don't have experience with one but i figure in the near future you'd rather have HDMI inputs instead of the converter box.

My problem is, I just bought the wii, the tivo is old as crap, but it's got the lifetime plan with it, so it's free for me, and the dvd player is a portable one because it plays the region 2 discs we have from Sweden, so we don't have much options to get new components without increasing the budget. I guess I really care less about quality and more on getting it to work. I may look into that ebay cable.

Thanks for the input.

I think you'd be better off getting an inexpensive switch box if you're not that concerned about picture quality at the moment. Radio Shack employees are pretty clueless, especially at this time of year, but if you can find a more experienced one you should be able to get what you need.

This. They're cheap, and they don't degrade the quality too much. HDMI directly into the tv, all components that take the analog cables into the switcher, switcher into tv.
