1. harlem - hippies
2. the black keys - brothers
3. tandoori knights - curry up it's the tandoori knights
4. stnnnng - the smoke of my will
5. birthday suits - the minnesota : mouth to mouth
6. strange boys - be brave
7. walkmen - lisbon
8. ty segall - melted
9. bare wires - seeking love
10. waaves - king of the beach
11. les savy fav - root for ruin
12. black angels - phosphene dream
13. the brokedowns - species bender
14. surfer blood - astrocoast
15. lcd soundsystem - this is happening
16. fresh and onlys - play it strange
17. the intelligence - males
18. beach house - teen dream
19. mark sultan - $
20. M.I.A. - MAYA

Due to a hectic schedule, I didn't venture too far from bands I was already familiar with (or related acts) this year. It was definitely a garage rock overdose. I think there was probably a lot of great shit I missed. Now that I have some time I'm looking forward to changing this list throughout 2011.

Both have Harlem #1. Careful. With choices like these, your boy Jerkass might think you have shitty taste.

Or maybe a dumbass Coon Ass or Big Pussy?

Interesting mix of things I really like and things that I haven't heard at all.

I haven't seen Jerkass enjoy any music in many years. Besides jock jams.

STNNNG is a band from mpls that i'd bet you'd like.
Shellac/Jesus Lizard meets the Fall? They've def got their own thing, this is their 3rd album.
Genius spoken prose lyrics over some heavy riffs. I liked the last two albums better than this but they're all great.

MIA is my guilty pleasure (along with LCD Soundsystem). I feel dumb for liking them at all but they make such great mindless jams to bring into the art studio. There's a couple tracks I have to skip but I seriously love Booooooaooooooorn free.

I listened to Waaves a bunch when it came out and liked it so so... but it's been getting a lot on on Obner's lists. I guess i need to go back and listen again.

Based on the total crapness of the album cover I think I might actually like that Hippies album but then I'm made assumptions like that before only to mourn pounds and valuable minutes of my life.

I also need to pick up that Walkmen album.

Speaking of Cats's homies, whatever happened to Killer Whaler?

I feel like their last album was a waaaaay better flowing album than this new one. I'm having a hard time getting into it. I also didn't hear it till last week. I will revisit though because I didn't care for Marvels right away either.

The new Brokedowns album hasn't hit me as hard as the first one did, but it is beginning to grow on me a bit more. Might creep into my top 20 after a few more listens.

This one is a lot more, um, peppy. Side B, especially.
