How to Dress Well made a late push for me. Could possibly have made it to the mid-teens range if I got it a month earlier.

Yeah, Lower Dens was in my top 10. (or 20, I've moved things around a little since I posted that)

Nice to see it on another list, though.

i am so confused by this band/album. one minute a song like "ready for the world" is the GREATEST SONG I'VE EVER HEARD. and the next minute i can't stand the intentional lo-lo-fi production.

Yea, I'm kinda with you on that. The songs that hit outweigh the wtf-ness of some of the other more droney tracks on the album (though I like some of those too).

I'm pretty sure 10 replies is the most I've ever gotten when I've posted a year-end list.

Yep.

In retrospect this was one of most interesting, original, releases of the year. That there's been "noise" smeared on musical ideas in order to make them sound deconstructed, or avant garde, or ironic, or to distract... has almost gotten passe. I listen to Yankee Foxtrot now and think how silly all those extraneous blips, clicks and buzzes are... seem like they are trying too hard.

But How to Dress Well.... I've described it as sounding like a tape that's been left in the trunk of the car for a week in August in Palm Springs. I can't imagine doing a second album with this "gimmick."

Oh, and two guns... 12.
