if you have transportation, you must hit Lexington BBQ -- about 30 minutes from town.

Can't argue that. Pretty much some of the best BBQ on the planet (if you favor the NC style).

Toze, let me get back to you tonight. FemDerris is from there. Also Busty Rhodes is there these days.

I will say this, the last time I was up there FemDerris' dad took us to this place call The Fig Tree and it was amazing.

Easily rivaled some of the best restaurants I've been to in Atlanta. Wasn't cheap but if money is no object.....

Also, Duckworth's Grill & Taphouse has an impressive beer selection. Can't speak to the food though.

This.

Also, FemDerris said for a good martini and a steak, Sullivan's is pretty solid.

Lived there for a almost a year and am drawing a blank. I've ate at Lexington Bbq, and will recommend it as well. I lived a little bit outside of the city on the SC side so I doubt most of the restaurants I know would be that useful.

Did an Italian joint near the hotel that was recommended by a local- it was good, if not exactly memorable. Then they tried to poison me with a raspberry-limoncello cake that had fucking coconut hidden in it.

Didn't check the board yesterday, so sorry I didn't get to you sooner. Here's a couple of suggestions where I've eaten, with some basic descriptions. If you feel like giving me an idea of where your hotel is, I might be able to recommend a little better.

Uptown/Just outside of Uptown:
Customshop (modern southern)
Carpe Diem (modern southern)
Fig Tree (modern southern; like Derris said, expensive but very good)
BLT Steak (nice steakhouse, in the Ritz-Carlton)
Ru-San's (sushi)
Kalu (asian fusion)
Pewter Rose (southern)

South Charlotte:
Rooster's Kitchen (modern southern)
Cowfish Sushi (home of the burgushi - burgers/sushi combo)
Good Eats on Montford (southern)
Zink (modern/southern)
