Pretty good for the most part. Lots of growth potential.

Man, does "Fire Away" sound like vintage Jackson Browne, or what? (And is that a good thing?)

I like it, although it sounds a little more produced than the last effort, if you know what I mean.

Ran through it a couple of times this weekend, but looking forward to some car listening to really digest it.

Kind of bummed they re-did "Million Dollar Bill" here, as it was JUST on that Middle Brother album a few months ago and was done damn near perfectly then, as well. I mean, this version's pretty good, but did Dawes really not have enough tunes that they had to bring over one from the Middle Brother record? Weak sauce.

I definitely like it better than Middle Brother and am cool with the production. On first pass, I was reminded of what Rubin did on Petty's Wildflowers.

First thing I thought of when I listened this afternoon on the ride home. "this sounds like later-era but pre-open suckage Petty"

I have a friend that swears by that Middel Brother, but it never clicked for me.

I kind of like the Middle Brother but after a couple of listens I'm not reaching for it that often.

I forgot we talked about it - actually there's a younger dude that works in the office down the hall from ours that is all about it.

He's also still in the "I drive to Birmingham and see Alejandro Escovedo on a Tuesday Night" phase of life. So, he probably has better taste than me anyway.

If nothing else, he has access to better drugs.

How do you guys decide on a band like this - do you just pick a name out of a hat or do you actively search for the most run-of-the-mill entity possible?

Smell the irony. Taste it, even.

I quite like that Middle Brother release and am vaguely aware the guys from that are all in other bands, but I don't really have much an idea of which other bands, guess this is one of 'em. How do the two things compare? Worth checking out if I like Middle Brother?

I'm a huge Deer Tick fan. I'd give them a listen if you like MB.

After one listen this didn't do much for me. I like their last one and the MB, so maybe this will be a grower.
